Narayan Bali Shraadh

“Narayan Bali Poojan is a powerful three-day ritual performed in Prayagraj, based on Hindu mythology and the Garuda Purana. It involves Brahmins and Gau Daan (cow donation) to grant moksha (liberation) to the souls of those who died unnaturally and to free families from curses. A symbolic body made of wheat dough is created to represent the deceased, and through Vedic mantras, the soul is invoked into it. The body is then cremated, helping the soul transcend suffering and achieve liberation.”

 

✦ Narayan Bali Pooja is performed for souls believed to be trapped in Pret-Yoni (Ghost Land) due to unnatural deaths such as accidents or suicide. These souls are thought to suffer, wandering without peace. The ritual aims to transition these souls from the Pret-Yoni to the Pitra-Yoni (Ancestors Land), providing them with peace and salvation.

 

✦ If Narayan Bali Pooja is not performed, other post-death rites like Pind Daan, Shraadh, and Tarpan may not reach the departed souls, rendering them ineffective. Souls without proper rites may continue to wander, causing difficulties for their descendants, such as hindrances in procreation and emotional distress. By performing this pooja, these souls gain momentum toward liberation, ensuring peace and prosperity for the family, free from spiritual disturbances.
