THE SACRED Ganga Aarti

Some services might get effected due to Mahakumbh Mela on Sanaan Dates.

The Sacred Ganga Aarti

According to the Shiva Purana, purification is achieved solely by chanting the name of the Ganga. Prayagraj, revered as the supreme pilgrimage spot in the Karma Purana, is situated on the banks of the Holy Ganges. The Triveni Sangam, where the Ganges meets the Yamuna and the mystical Saraswati, is considered the pinnacle of all pilgrimage sites.

✦ Invoking Divine Blessings: Sangam Aarti is performed to seek the blessings and protection of the deities. The light from the lamps and the recitation of sacred hymns during the Arti create a divine ambiance, inviting the presence of the deities and their blessings (Garuda Purana, Chapter 19).

✦ Symbolism of Divine Light: The ritual of Sangam Arti represents the dispelling of darkness and ignorance through divine light. Waving the light before the deities purifies the mind and soul of the performer, fostering spiritual growth and enlightenment (Vishnu Purana, Book 4, Chapter 24).

Awareness of Spiritual Science

In Indian philosophy and spiritual science, the energies of the subtle body traverse through countless nadis, or energy channels, within our being.

According to texts, there are 72000 or more such nadis in our body of which 3 (Sushumna, Ida, Pingala) are considered to be most important.

The 7 Chakras are the intersection points of these nadis within our body. Ida, Pingala and Sushumna intersect in the Ajna Chakra (on the forehead between the brows) or the point which opens the doorway to intuition.

✦ Ida Representing the river Ganges and associated with the moon, Ida is linked with the feminine aspects and governs our mental functions. It begins at the Root Chakra (Mooladhara) at the base of the spine and flows through to the left nostril.

✦ Pingala CSymbolizing the river Yamuna and connected to the sun, Pingala embodies masculine qualities and controls the vital functions of the body. It starts at the Root Chakra (Mooladhara) and extends to the right nostril.

✦Sushumna Associated with the river Saraswati, Sushumna is the central channel crucial for awakening consciousness. It runs from the Root Chakra (Mooladhara) up to the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara), serving as the primary pathway for spiritual enlightenment.
